ARA report: June?

An article in the Orangeville Banner indicates a report on the Aggregate Resources Act could be made public within weeks. A review of the ARA was ordered in the fall of 2011 in response to the controversy over the Highland mega quarry. Hearings were held last spring and, more recently, Ontarians pressured the MPPs on the Standing Committee on General Government to complete the review. As the article points out, any revisions to the ARA — including protection for prime farmland and source water regions — will still need to get approval from MPPs in the Legislature. The job is not done yet!
