As the Guelph Mercury reports, “Farmland is the foundation of Ontario’s agricultural sector” yet it continues to disappear at an alarming rate. While this province is home to the largest agri-food sector in the country, the very soil that sustains a $34-billion economic sector is devoured by urban sprawl, quarries and other non-farming development.
