Join us in Claremont on Tuesday, October 22nd (7pm) for a meeting with Land Over Landings as it outlines the campaign to protect 13,000-acres of Class 1 farmland east of Toronto! The federal government has revived a 40-year-old proposal for a new Pickering airport on the rare soil. Land Over Landings, a partner of Food & Water First, argues the fields should not be paved, but protected for food production. NDACT’s Carl Cosack will be the keynote speaker! We’re throwing a country party this summer to Celebrate Food & Water First! Join us in Honeywood (near the site of Foodstock!) for a day of local food, live music and great art! You’ll also enjoy a farmers’ market and a wagon ride down a country road to see the farmland saved from the Highland mega quarry. Savour a stunning vista over the Hills of Headwaters and don’t be surprised if you find artists at their easels painting the beautiful landscape! Please bring your own plate and fork, and a healthy appetite!

A Big Day at the Big Carrot!
Food & Water First will be at the Big Carrot in Toronto on Thursday, June 6th! Meet our volunteers and learn more about the campaign to protect Ontario’s precious farmland and water resources. We’ll also have our popular lawn signs for you to plant proudly in your yard! We’ll be at the Big Carrot from 10am-7pm. See you there! 348 Danforth Avenue.
