Happy New Year to all our supporters and Partners! The ground is frozen and spring may be months away, but there is no winter hibernation for the Food & Water First campaign! We’re starting 2014 with a presentation before the Toronto Food Policy Council on Wednesday, January 8th, followed by another presentation at the Fairlawn Neighbourhood Centre in North Toronto on Monday, January 20th. (The popular community centre is also organizing Fairlawnstock for March 26th! Details soon!)
2014 opens with some disturbing news out of China. According to a New York Times article, one-sixth of China’s arable land is contaminated with pollutants, impacting the food it produces. Once again, the words of Franklin D. Roosevelt resonate: “The nation that destroys its soil, destroys itself.” Read the article below:
