Eat local this summer!

Ontario’s fields and orchards are producing another season of fresh and healthy local food for us. Fruits and vegetables are arriving in farmers’ markets and grocery stores. And, given the political tensions with our southern neighbour, many Canadians are taking a stand and are refusing to buy American produce in favour of food grown or raised in Canada. Buying local is beneficial for your health and Ontario’s $34-billion agri-food sector, the largest in the country. Local food also tastes better because it hasn’t travelled great distances to your plate!

Farmers’ Markets Ontario has compiled a handy list of markets selling fresh, local produce throughout the summer. Find one close by and stock up on Ontario’s best fruit, vegetables and more!
