The youngsters in the above photo had a clear message for the politicians attending this week’s International Ploughing Match in the town of Ivy: Put Food & Water First! The annual fair is an opportunity for MPPs to demonstrate their support for Ontario’s $34-billion agri-food sector and those who feed us. Food & Water First volunteers engaged the politicians and public on the issue of preserving Ontario’s farmland and water. (They also took a few photos!) MPPs return to Queen’s Park later next month. We look forward to the parties working together to better protect Ontario’s vital resources of prime agricultural soil and fresh water. The show of signs is a good start!
Premier Kathleen Wynne gives the “thumbs up” when she spots a Food & Water First sign.
Interim PC Leader, Jim Wilson, and members of his caucus show their support.
NDP Leader, Andrea Horwath, adorns a great harvest wagon with a great sign.
Toronto Liberal MPP (Beaches-East York) Arthur Potts also tweeted “Important program. Congrats on being here.”
