Losing the Land that Feeds Us

The Hill Times features an excellent article about the disturbing loss of Canada’s prime farmland and lack of protection for what remains. Journalist Jessica Bruno also reports that while Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta have restrictions on the amount of farmland foreign investors can own, Ontario does not. (The $25-billion Baupost Group behind the defeated mega quarry project owns 8,000-acres of Class 1 farmland in Melancthon.)
