“Sinful” to Waste Farmland

The Ontario Federation of Agriculture recently hosted a “Field Day” for MPPs, and, to our delight, a Liberal cabinet minister came out strongly in favour of preserving prime farmland. The OFA made a short video about the event and the Minister of Community and Social Services, Ted McMeekin, is featured along with other members of the Legislature. In the video, the former Agriculture Minister says “We are so incredibly blessed in this country with some of the best land in the world, that to squander it, abuse it or waste it is sinful.” We couldn’t agree more!

FOOD & WATER FIRST CHALLENGE

Food & Water First
The International Plowing Match near Stratford this week turned out to be fertile ground for our campaign! Ontario’s Green Party Leader, Mike Schreiner, challenged the other three leaders to take the Food & Water First pledge. Mike has supported us throughout the mega quarry battle and backs the effort to protect Ontario’s rare farmland and source water regions. His challenge made headlines in Northumberland and Thunder Bay!
