Pickering Lands meeting!

Food & Water First and other like-minded groups continue to work together to protect the land and water that sustain us. On Tuesday, October 22nd, another important chapter in the effort to preserve rare Ontario farmland and water resources will unfold. Our friends at Land Over Landings are hosting a meeting in Claremont to discuss the Pickering Lands campaign. NDACT chair, Carl Cosack, will be the featured speaker and will share our stories from the Mega Quarry battle. The event begins at 7pm and will be held at the Claremont Community Centre on Old Brock Road. See the poster below!

Meanwhile, the controversy over the proposed Pickering airport and the federal cabinet ministers caught in the middle are making headlines in this week’s issue of Maclean’s magazine. 40-years after 18,600-acres of Class 1 farmland was expropriated by Ottawa, the fierce campaign to protect it for foodland gathers momentum.
